How many freeze plugs on a 350 SBC?
Will add most 2 bolt mains were 2 soft plugs per side, 4 bolt mains were 3. Back in my racing days we cheated rules by using a 2 bolt block [with aftermarket splayed caps] claiming it was a 350 which it wasn't. Was a 400 block with 350 crank.- fast 99

Rochester Quadrajet issue
When choke is completely warmed fast idle on right side shouldn't change idle speed. Either choke isn't warmed enough [no preheat], bad choke thermostat [check for open circuit ohm it] linkage is stuck and/or not adjusted correctly. Try pushing down on the fast idle cam with a finger. Needs 12v...- fast 99

Old shoes can cause all sorts of issues. Toss them out. Remove the hub, clean/buff spindle area replace seal. This is one place where trying to save time or money isnt worth the risk.- fast 99

Uneven rear main seal, help needed.
That condition is real odd. Could the seal housing be bent? It's an aluminum piece, careless removal or dropping the engine could easily bend it. Provided the crank doesn't have runout I would find another housing.- fast 99

E-brake sticking after rebuild
If emergency cables stick and don't return completely the self adjusters will take up, over adjust and wear the shoes out. This is one item that can't be repaired, replace. Did look at the assembly pictures nothing obviously wrong sticks out. -

Crawl underneath and pull on the cables by hand. They should retract completely when released. I replace many cables when doing brake jobs. It's one area that seems to get easily overlooked. -

That's one of the diagnostic procedures I use for a non running engine. Can't explain seeing more Pontiacs either. I think most of them were 389 grocery getters. Just remember doing a lot more Pontiacs than other brand. Could be as simple as more sold in the area, who knows. Was a money maker...- fast 99

Nylon cam gear years
Some of the 90's and up GM V-8's came with a single roller chain. Replaced several high millage motors and frankly the chain was tight enough to reinstall. Wonder if this was a replacement for plastic? Back in the late 70'S and early 80's I replaced a ton of failed Pontiac plastic timing...- fast 99

Let me tickle your brains about stall issue.
Besides choke, there should be 2 choke pull-offs that can be adjusted. When a carb is rebuilt there are base settings however every engine is different. Most times a little tweaking is needed.- fast 99

Am I Crazy? Lincoln Drive Train Swap

Have seen a bunch of them fail. That being said, our company had good luck both R12 and 134A units. Several trucks had 300k on original compressors. Had all the equipment to recycle the refrigerant. Steering does not self center.

We all know tools are abused I am guilty of that. Sticking a 6' pipe on a 1/2" breaker bar isn't what they were designed for. Agree some vendors are reluctant to do broken warranties but my experience has been good. The worst tool company that I have dealt with is Craftsman after Sears sold... -

Camber and toe are wear angles. Toe is set in to compensate for loose parts and load. Hopefully ending up close to zero or slightly in at speed. Excessive toe and camber WILL wear out tires.
