    Starting custom dash build.

Have been bitten twice by venomous… They still don’t bother me. Have a semi tame copperhead named Sneaky Pete (4th version), he’s huge, lives on chipmunks and squirrels in the backyard.

Python skin vinyl… C10 or K1500… Dashtop and door card inserts. Or the seat sides on the Super Beetle, real one, flat windshield with lime green doorcards…

Your favorite old car/truck that you regret selling!

I kind of miss my 50 Hudson, seriously miss my 64 F100. 54 Buick, 33 Willys, the 38 Olds and 41 Pontiac, good riddance.

    Power to manual door conversion?

I know the shells are basically the same. But are the windows the same power versus manual? Lock knob latches power vs manual? Handle actuating rods power versus manual? I “could” use the C60 doors, but they have so many extra mirror holes… I will be swapping the power doorcards for the manual...

Lund Visor’s…if ya got one how did you install it?

And THAT is what matters. YOU like it, it will go well with YOUR truck, and it was because you could, not because you were chasing the latest Squarebody fad. I have a couple “patina piles”, don’t have to worry about rock chips, shopping cart dings, or fingerprints on perfect paint at a show...

Our 85 shipped new with a Qjet equipped 4.3L V6 and a Th400… Special order number on the spid.

Lund Visor’s…if ya got one how did you install it?

I used to hate them, western WA/OR, Nor-Cal and British Columbia they were just leak-rust-rot inducers. Here in the independent 3rd world nation of “The Land Between the Ditches”, I mean, western 1/3rd of TN… They actually come in handy. I’d prefer a miniaturized Pete 379 style louvered...

    Power to manual door conversion?

Swapping doors over is a no go, C60 doors are maybe patch panel donors.

    Power to manual door conversion?

My wife’s 85 C10 Silverado has had a clear garbage bag “window” since 2022. Power doors, of course, with the fugly switches/panels. Time to fix it for good… My 85 C60 Custom Deluxe has crank windows and decent door panels. The C60 is a parts roach. How do I swap power door guts out for manual...

Nobody on this farm will likely still be alive in 50 years… Even our ought as well be our daughter of a tenant is 33, smokes like a 2 stroke Detroit diesel.

I’ve been married to her for almost 300 years (redhead)… Not a chance brother…

    Front end dress up.

Looks good, wife wants “fangs” added to the lowrider project. Along with full length extruded running boards, exterior cab grab handles, cab visor, center cap tribar covers… If JC Whitney puked on an 85 C10 swb, then she wants it done to Ralph… Her truck, her money, so…

    16" 6 lug Steel Wheels

You can get the full on LT235/85r16 equivalent “Co-op Grip Spur” shipped to your house. Deestone 503 in 7.50-16LT is still made in 10, 12 and 14 ply ratings, still bias ply. The Gateway Bias Buckshot is also still made, basically a 33-9.5-16, which in reality is a LOT meaner tire than the Grip...

Nothing secret about it, Sherwin Williams marine paint. Doesn’t react to fiberglass resin curing.

    Starting custom dash build.

Once the thin layer of paint cures, will use fiberglass resin and landscape fabric to wrap the metal core. Again, cure a few days in a solar oven. Will take pics through out the entire process, right to colored bezel and inset individual gauges. There will be NO brushed aluminum glued on drek in...

    Starting custom dash build.

Figured what the heck, if I screw it up too badly, can order a sweatshop Chinesium replacement. The foam was separating in sheets all over the base. So, the standard cut back, blow foam and polar fleece method is a no go. No problem, I hope… Foam peels off relatively cleanly with a putty knife...

What year rims for a 85 C30 dually

My truck is a 1t 4wd c&c dually. Stock wheels are steel 16x6, LT215/85r16D ran at 65psi for a gvwr of 12,000 per the finished vehicle builder. I got it with 4 Eagle Alloy bullet hole dually wheels, 16x6, rated for only 60psi max. Which puts it firmly in load range D, formerly 3/4t territory...

Widest tire using stock 15x8 rallies

For testing, work fine. Readily available in HT tread as well. Be it the 30-9.50, 31-10.5 or even 33-12.5 sizes.

Widest tire using stock 15x8 rallies

I want -zero- excess wheelwell, grew up with Street Freaks and Pro Streets. The fattest tire I can fit with 8” of rear drop is an old Hercules Terra Trac 30-9.50r15.

    Another Leaf Spring Question

Former welding truck with a 9’x7’6” steel flatbed. Gooseneck well built in, ball goes through a 3/4” thick base plate. 2 fuel tanks adding 60 gallons of weight, wrapped frame center… Wet curb weight is 8200#, the springs are shot. Truck needs to be lifted, my C60 got squished by a falling tree...

    Another Leaf Spring Question

My “money maker” is a 1t 4wd c&c dually. 5+1 mains, 3+1 overloads, 12,000# gvwr. And is undersprung, badly. I’m switching it to spring packs out of a C60 lineman’s truck with 40’ boom/bucket…

Front brake pads ceramic or semi matallic

Brake pads are consumables, so I buy lifetime warranty from Autozone or O’rielly. Work fine, good service life, no questions when returned. Have an older (1969) Dodge that had an axle seal leak, Autozone had no issues giving me new shoe sets after I got the seals replaced. My 85 C10 swb has...

Widest tire using stock 15x8 rallies

255/70 used to be known as 30-9.50r15. I test fit a set on an 85 swb with over 8” of rear drop, plenty of room. It likely could stuff a 31-10.5r15 with only 4-5” of rear drop. At stock height a skinny 33” tire fits with room to spare. I hate fenderwell gap, so…

Show me your lowered truck. The lower the better!

Has 235/75r15s on 15x6 f/r. Rear sat 3” higher than the front is in the pic, so, a bunch of drop. Rear flip and shock extenders, Gabriel 500# rear load assist shocks that need new bushings. Front still needs lowering spindles and drop/cut springs. Thinking 3” spindles, 2.5-3” springs and...

United By Trucks podcast- garage accident topic

When I was wrestling with Ralph’s rear spring flip, the stands pitched sideways dumping the truck multiple times. I had a couple old wheels with worn out Super Swampers under each frame rail as catch pads. Used to it here, all work is done in the yard or orchards, be it cars, trucks, implements...
