    Between the nuts and the resistor. You're trying to make better contact with the resistor. You can also lightly use a pink pencil eraser to clean off any corrosion without damaging the resistor. Do all the instrument cluster lamps and other gauges work normally?

    I've always put two SPDT Mini ISO relays in the engine compartment that swap the ground from the main to the plow lamps and back depending on the position of a SPST switch. The relay rest positions are the main lamps so if there's a failure it defaults to the mains.
