Paddle / Camper special mirror gasket and glass replacement

You may be able to get a new glass cut for it, if you have the housing...if you can find a glass shop.

Paddle / Camper special mirror gasket and glass replacement

Do you happen to have any pictures of this mirror shell? I know on our 78 shop truck, the rectangular mirror got smacked and it knocked the glass loose. We had a glass company down the street, and they were a customer at our parts store. They were able to cut a new mirror using the gasket as a...

What have you done to your square lately??

You sound like me and my buddy Bernard, when we'd been working on my truck for several days, to get the fuel pump changed out(97 so pump is in the tank, and the truck is built around the tank). When I hit the key after reconnecting the battery, and it started right up, that was a beautiful and...

Hopefully this is the new to me DD, just picked it up yesterday in central Texas and drove it 134 miles back home. 2000(OBS/400 carryover model) Chevy LS C2500 Crew Cab shortbed, 5.7and 4L80E. This was taken right after we got home, Caprice is my neighbor's. Looks a lot like my big truck, but...

Why do Americans hate drain plugs? Drive line oil change queries.

Probably a lot easier to measure how much came out, so you can determine how much new fluid to put back in. I've found that the newer the automatic transmission is, the pickier it is about the "correct" fluid level.

What new tools have you got lately?

A six wheeler...or if you're at Target they call em U Boats. I used to push these around when I worked at Marty Wal, stocking shelves on the night shift. And yes there are varying degrees of quality on these, same with pallet jacks. Great for moving case goods and big boxes of stuff. Looks like...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yup I used to hang an old tire on one, on our square body Burb (IIRC it was the 79 that had these) to push cars around on our property. They were also good for hanging a plastic bag (like the grocery store or Marty Wal ones with handles/loops) over, to put trash from oil changes or other...

    Starting custom dash build.

Hmmm that gives me an idea...rest of the fam wouldn't care for it though. Mom grew up in the country and she does NOT like anything to do with snakes.....

    Name these colors!

The main yellow is Colonial Yellow, our 78 shop truck was that color so I remember it fondly. I thought the lighter color was a pale yellow, but it may actually be more of a beige or tan. I do remember that was a popular combo back in the late 70s; friend in high school had a 79 Burb in this combo.

I Spy A Cool GM Truck

Saw an original Denali this morning at work....the OBS/GMT 400s are still popular around the Houston area. I usually see a couple of them every day, sometimes more if I'm traveling much. And the square body Rallye wheels are popular on the 2wd 400s too....

    Anti theft devices

Problem is (and one of my good friends is a big OBS truck guy, and a wrecker driver in Houston for the last 25 years) if someone has made up their mind, that they want your truck or car bad enough, alarms and theft deterrents are just going to slow them down (especially if they have a wrecker or...

    Anti theft devices

Yup, our 84 Burb got stolen because the kill switch Dad had wired into the ignition, that had a key with an extension to get through the grille, that one time he didn't use it....

Your favorite old car/truck that you regret selling!

No pictures (lost em in a fire several years ago)but I have a few vehicles I wish we'd been able to keep..... Dad's 75 Sierra Classic C15, it had the smogger 350/QJ but he probably wanted to put a 383 in it. Very 70s in Willoway Green and white, he did some custom stuff to it like chrome padded...

What did you fix on your daily, today?

I know Honda in the early 80s, would "revise" the specs on maintenance parts, just often enough for the aftermarket manufacturers to not make them... because the relatively low numbers for each version wouldn't make it cost effective to make them...even on stuff like filters.

What did you fix on your daily, today?

In Texas, we've had Antique and Classic plates, for several years (Antique plates actually were started in the early 60s, for Brass Era/Classic/prewar cars). There used to be a 5000 miles per year restrictions on the Antique plates, but that no longer exists. The Classic Truck and Car plates...

How to identify my Rochester carb? '84 GMC, 305

Back in the day, we looked up Hygrade or Delco carb kits by the body number (in this case, 1708----). Many times, kits would fit multiple carb #s. So there may be parts in the kit that your specific carb might not use.

This was mine.... until right before Thanksgiving. Jerk tried to get in the lane Mom was in, without bothering to notice/realize she and the truck were there....so now it looks like the last two pictures. I started a GoFundMe to help with bills and expenses; don't know if I can save it but I...

    Hydraulic booster options

From my experience: probably the reason the local guys don't want to attempt to rebuild, is they're not familiar with the setup, and they don't want any potential for come-backs, especially on brakes, because of the potential liability if you have a brake failure. I've had a '97 C3500 Crew Cab...

What have you done to your square lately??

Chevy small block on engine fuel pump: AC #40987 for two line(feed and carb) #41216 for three line(feed, carb and vapor return). Big block may be the same, IDR. Never sold near as many for BBC as I did for small blocks. Only big block one I remember is the delivery driver for one of our...
