I've looked at several brands on interior plastic/vinyl dyes. A few looked way off! Does anyone have experience with a specific brand that seems to match well? 1983 saddle, tan, what ever else they call it.

GM used so many shades, it's hard to say without comparing to color charts.

I do know that there was a tan color GM used in the early 80's that was kind of yellow, and nothing seems to be available in a spray can that is a good match.

Info I've found so far, for 1983 trucks, there's a light tan/beige what ever else it's called and a darker saddle/brown what have you. My K20 is the lighter of the 2.
I found this
OER O-PP820/OPP820 Interior Spray Paint - Camel / Tan Z48
I was hoping someone used brand A on his truck of a similar year and it matched nicely.

As long as I can get it close, not a show truck. Just don't want 3 or 4 tone interior !

That's what I mean though, the shades often changed some, from year to year or every couple years. Not just trucks, but cars too.

The seat is mid 70's vintage and is being replaced with cloth seat correct vinrage. The other piece is headliner trim. Think I see a trip to the auto body paint store. The guys are very knowledgeable and helpful, the prices are horrific !

Appears you have light saddle interior.
I have the same.
The closet I could find to match is OER.
See pics. Armrest and pocket painted. Other trim original. Also match the LMC door pulls.

Thanks. I was lucky to find such an original truck in good shape.

My 85 has light saddle and looks just like yours. I am in the process of rebuilding my doors. I added black lower carpets with the intent of recoloring my door panels black as well. But, I discovered how good the two tone looks with my interior combo. So, I went to a local paint supply store yesterday who carries all the SEM products. SEM has 5-6 different shades of "tan". I took the cans outside and matched them in the sun to my panels. The light saddle is almost the perfect match. Since I'm going to spray all my tan plastic and vinyl it won't matter. There are two series of SEM paint (15 and 17). I was told the 17 is for vinyl, plastic and leather. The 15 series is not for leather and a few bucks cheaper. I'll grab and post some pics tonight.

Any chance you could give me the SEM part number. The autobody supply store down the street sells SEM.
THANKS Mike

So I stand corrected now that I painted a piece of trim last night. When I color matched the can to the door panel, I did so against the top of the panel. I now realize the original plastic is almost two tone due to fading and texture. Smooth areas appear lighter than textured. I'm ok with this light buckskin color but it is not as "golden" as the original. In my case, it looks ok paired with the black in the interior.
