Preparing to install the freshened up wheels and new tires, I dug out the hubcaps and decided to clean them up a bit. Because the wheels themselves aren't going to make the rest of the truck look $#itty enough on their own.

Yes, I know it's a little bonkers to polish the insides of hubcaps. But I'm going to spray them with Boeshield T-9, and I think it will work better if I'm not coating the dirt. And I figured if it can protect aluminum aircraft, Boeshield should be able to protect aluminum hubcaps too.

My new 454 has no mech fuel pump provision, so I've been on the fence about how to deal with it.

87 sender is cleaner, but they're up to 50 plus shipping on Rock auto, and lord knows what at the local store.

Fortunately scored a open box unit on Ebay for 20 bucks, so now I can get it installed, and get the bed on this weekend. I'll only be a brake booster and bleed from a driving vehicle again, hallelujah.

Wife: Hi honey! What ya got cooking for supper? (She still works so I do most of the cooking)

Me: Uh…well….For your dining pleasure I present Vintage Big Block Chevy exhaust manifold!

It’s hard to put her expression into words….Resignation, Acceptance, WTF?

That new high temp paint for the exhaust manifolds calls for a heat cure at a minimum of 400f for 2 hours before use. So in the oven they went!

Y’all need to put your Big Boy pants on and teach them women folk who rules the roost. When that fails, do like I did: Sneak them in once the wife leaves for work or wherever…. :rotflmao:
That is what I did! She wasn't home. Luckily it was before I had replaced the oven.

Then burn some hotdogs on the stove or oven to cover up the cooked paint smell.

It’s actually pretty uneventful. The manifolds were super clean, blasted with crushed glass and painted so the only thing coming off of them was some fumes/smoke from the paint for the first 30 minutes.

Later tonight I’ll bake a baked egg tortilla dish.

All done! Cooled off and ready to install.

Wife has declared oven acceptable for human baking (baking food for humans, not baking a human….) after a bit of airing out.
