    SM 465 to some 5 or 6 speed

    I have a SM 465 in my 1983 Chevy k20 with a 350 and at 60 I'm pushing 3000 RPM's. Is there a 5 or 6 speed transmission that I can change to that will give me one or two more gears so the rpms will go down and gas mileage will improve. Specs on truck: 1983 k20 350 4 bolt main sm465...

    1983 k10 So if I had a 1983 k10 and the axles and springs were changed out to the 3/4 ton axles and springs its basically a k20 at heart but not by VIN number

    Does anyone know if the frame on a 1983 K10 is the same as a K20 and just the axles are different. I'm new to the Forum and to the truck.
