Hood Adjustment - Front Needs to go Down

Wow, that sucks, I'm marking everything before it comes apart and typically do put the cowl on first so I can adjust and tighten it up before the hood goes on. That said, wouldn't have known that it was so hard putting it on after, thanks for that heads up! This forum truly is great!

Hood Adjustment - Front Needs to go Down

Thanks Girth, ya, I have tomorrow to mess with it to get the gaps perfect (aka - as good as I can) and then the entire front clip and doors are all coming off to paint. I'm sure you'll see a post from me in a few weeks asking for tricks on how to install the cowl after the hoods been bolted in...

Hood Adjustment - Front Needs to go Down

Ok, I've got photos and I removed the front springs (thanks for that suggestion TotalyHucked). That didn't really change much but it did get me to mess with the rear hinge (thanks bucket) and that was the problem. I assumed that the rear hinge only held the hood in place front to back and that...

Hood Adjustment - Front Needs to go Down

I removed the fender bumpers but it didn't make a difference. One was touching but wasn't holding it up. I have to think it's something further back as the hood sits level, just high. One would think a clearance issue would affect one side more than the other but if I push gently on either front...

Hood Adjustment - Front Needs to go Down

Thanks, I've wound down the rad support front bumpers as far as they'll go, there's plenty of clearance on them, honestly I thought someone would tell me to adjust one of the hinges (front or rear) somehow as that does seem to be where the hood is "binding", I just thought I was missing...

Hood Adjustment - Front Needs to go Down

Hey, I put my new hood on today and I can't get the front to go down any further than in the photos. It's definitely not binding or hitting anything, there's plenty of room in the engine bay (I've looked). Clearly there's something I'm missing, can anyone fill me in on it? :)

Removing AC unit - Is there a big hole to fill?

Thanks Rustisbest for the link, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to everyone else for the idea of keeping the AC. Personally I'll be using the Blazer for running around in Spring/Summer/fall with the top off so it's going to be dry but likely not crazy hot (we're usually in the low...

    Body Panel Alignment Tips

Nice job Squarelyfe, I just mounted my doors with new hinges this week and had accepted that the fender and door were just not quite the same shape. You've given me inspiration, I'll see if I can get mine a little closer. It is doing the same as yours, good top and bottom but in the middle, the...

Removing AC unit - Is there a big hole to fill?

Hi All, I've got a Blazer with factory AC but it was disconnected ages ago and nothing on it works. My question for those who have done it... Is there a large hole left in the fire wall after the condenser is removed? Do I need a new fan housing? I'd love to remove it while the fender is off...

A Tape Trick for Adjusting Doors and Fenders

Hi All, I thought I'd put this up as I've been working on my front clip this past week. Doing things yourself can be a pain and every time I tried to "tweak" the door a little (I'm adjusting the bolts on the pillar) it would move a lot and because the panel edges are rounded and curved, trying...

New Hinge Alignment with NO Reference Marks

Thanks Legopnuematic, love the detail! I'm sure it's no surprise but I've found that both my B pillar and fender body lines are +/- by and 1/8th at least (pictures above). Love squarebodies but they're not BMW's :)

New Hinge Alignment with NO Reference Marks

Thanks for the help guys, I fitted the door yesterday. Things went way better than I thought they would although to CalSgt's point, ya, at least 20 times... Anyway, it likely would have been a lot less but I ended up having to grind the corner of the lower hinge where it meets the door. The door...

New Hinge Alignment with NO Reference Marks

Brilliant, looking good, you must be stoked! When did you start it?

New Hinge Alignment with NO Reference Marks

I should have mentioned too, the doors are stripped (no glass or hardware) and really light. I'm going to start by installing the weather stripping around the jamb in the morning and shimming the sill so the door sits at the correct height (I'll just tape the top - did it today and works well)...
