Thoughts/Feedback on running with inner tubes

Great feedback team! I really appreciate it. I'm going to get the tires mounted...if I experience leaks, I'll put the tubes in myself and follow the recommendations. I have plugged the holes and plan to smooth/scuff the inside tonight and install patches as a second level of protection...just...

Thoughts/Feedback on running with inner tubes

Hey all, I'm putting some 33's on my truck that I picked up from a buddy. He let me have them saying he didn't know what to do with them. They have good tread on them, but he had picked up some nails in them. So I thought I would give them a shot. I pulled the nails and put plugs in (typical...

    Axle Swap - '70 3/4 Jimmy to '83 K10

CSFJ - yeah, more digging on http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/14b_bible/index.html helped me find that the pre-73 axles are different than the 73 & up axles. This may be more of a hassle than its worth. The wheels/tires are probably worth the asking price though...if I had the cash...

    Axle Swap - '70 3/4 Jimmy to '83 K10

Ok, so after asking my questions, I did some quick research. I understand now that the spindle on the 14 Bolt axle is pretty much an integrated element of the axle. You can replace it, but it basically requires cutting off the end of the axle and the welding on a replacement. In this case, I...

    Axle Swap - '70 3/4 Jimmy to '83 K10

So, If you burn up a bearing, and scar the spindle, the axle is toast?

    Axle Swap - '70 3/4 Jimmy to '83 K10

Part of the challenge is I wanted to swap over the axle too...the wheels and tires are worth the price, but I'd like to get it all in one fell swoop.

    Axle Swap - '70 3/4 Jimmy to '83 K10

I haven't bought it yet...can't that be rebuilt?

    Axle Swap - '70 3/4 Jimmy to '83 K10

CSFJ - thanks for the reply. I'll do some searching to figure out what may have broken. I hope it can be an easy fix so I can swap these over to my K-10....

    Axle Swap - '70 3/4 Jimmy to '83 K10

In my search for tires, I found a pretty good looking deal on a set of tires, wheels, and 3/4 axles. The axles are off a '70 GMC Jimmy and appear to be 3/4 ton or 1 ton since they're 8 lug. 19095474_1506770492677899_2505031399454264041_o by Mikeyworks posted Jun 14, 2017 at 10:17 AM The...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

I need to rebuild my carb too...I can tell it has some latent issues from neglect by the previous owner. It shows as a 1408...is that the same rebuild kit as the 1406? Would on likd this work? http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/1477/10002/-1 or...

    NP833 Transimission Removal/Reinstall - What am I up for?

Hey guys, My NP833/A833 4-speed transmission on my '83 K10 4x4 is whining in 1st, 2nd, and 4th/OD gears. 3rd is quiet as can be. I believe, from reading around on here that it's likely the input shaft bearing that's making the noise. I'm planning to pull the transmission when it...

    A833 to NV3500 - what's involved?

Hey guys, another newbie question... I currently have an '83 K10 with an aftermarket 350 mated to an A833 OD transmission. It's a good combo, but I'm always looking for options. I have a few decent salvage yards around here, and I am confident that I can find all the components to an...

    NV3500 swap

Resurrecting this older thread, and sorry to hijack, but I think I read right that you can likley use a mechanical clutch linkage on this transmission instead of the hydraulic clutch, right?

    Lets see your lifted trucks

Here's my '83 K10 that I just picked up. It has a 3 in. body lift. It may get a shackle flip one day, along with bigger tires, but for now, it's quite practical...just need to close up some body gap areas (rear bed to bumper area).
