Hey guys,

My NP833/A833 4-speed transmission on my '83 K10 4x4 is whining in 1st, 2nd, and 4th/OD gears. 3rd is quiet as can be.

I believe, from reading around on here that it's likely the input shaft bearing that's making the noise.

I'm planning to pull the transmission when it warms up a little, and just want to know what to expect. All of my past cars have been either FWD or 2WD (RWD).
I believe the Transmission & Transfer Case need to come out together, right?

I believe I will be able to use my friend's lift & transmission jack, which should really help...but what else am I up against as I prepare?

Thanks!
Mike

It's pretty standard stuff. You can remove the t-case first to make it a little more manageable. If you have pulled a RWD trans before, there shouldn't be any surprises. It's just a few more bolts. Well, several more bolts.
