Do you ever get tired of disparaging TBI's that are, in fact, not that bad of a system. You seem to forget how old these TBI's are. They are not that hard to work on.
Mine would do that sometimes as well until I replaced the sensor. Reads better and doesn't jump around. I suppose it could also be the gauge itself given the age of the truck.
I would think that splicing in an aftermarket unit wouldn't be too bad considering the simplicity of the speaker set up. I have a factory 8 track player for my truck that I'm going to swap in eventually. Got plenty of 8 tracks to play on it too.
So after much delay the truck appears to be working fine now. Replaced the EGR valve, Coolant Temperature Sensor, and the EGR control solenoid. Also after some looking at the wiring going to the coolant temp sensor it was a complete hack job from the previous owner. Rewired that the proper way...
I do plan on driving it around again here soon. I gathered quite a few spare parts over the years since I owned it so I can swap stuff around if need be. Gas cap should be fine but I'll check that too once I get around to it. I defiantly won't be driving it far, that's for sure.
The module on the new distributor I bought the first time around was faulty. This new distributor from NAPA was installed after the wire was repaired and the one fuel injector was replaced too. I'll look into the PCM as well, again. Stuff has come up so it's on the back burner for a couple of days.
Looks like it could still be in the distributor maybe? Maybe you got a bad module in the new distributor? I've gotten bad ones before that didn't last.
I mean if I got ANOTHER bad module from another brand new distributor that would be ridiculous.
