Its an 82 suburban with 6.2 diesel 4x4 k20.

This was my big like tree, smart like rock moment.

I bought new housings for my bumper fog lamps. Install was ok, (you have to mess around with the bumper otherwise they won't sit right) But anyways, that's besides the point. One lamps was burnt out.
Ok no biggie, here it comes, I pulled and pulled on it thinking geez she's corroded in there and then ripped the bulb out. But its not one of those replaceable bulbs like the taillights.... oh no. So it's broken. ( see pics).

Here's the questions now, what can I do about this, buy a new socket/plug and wire it in? Or.... I don't believe i can fix this current one...I can really take it apart, i pulled (gently this time,) on the wires to see if they can pull out of the socket but, no joy
Any ideas or help is appreciated.
Its a 3 wore socket/plug, and dual filament bulb.

Just splice in a new one. $5 - $10. Most Autoparts stores carry them. Say ya need an 1157 twist in like your socket.

Yeah as I was posting this is, i saw napa can get some in for Monday. I guess it was a panic post. I thought it all came as one "unit" I'd never seen one before where the bulb wasn't removable or replaceable.

I don't think those are Fog Lights. Aren't those the actual running/turn signal lights? And only for that '82 model year...I think.

Its a dual filament bulbs so yeah, ots two finction, and they are running lights. Bit there's numerous posts of here referring to them as fog lights. The housing i bought cake up s fog lights on amazon. So I jist went with the flow..

Bit short answer, yeah they're running/turn signal lights... in which case i don't have fog lights. Coz 1st position on light switch is marker lights taillights and "fog" lights in the bumper.
Second position is all the above and headlights. And hi n lo beam foot switch by thr pedals

Your removal method was wrong. 1157 bulbs do not just pull out like newer lamps. You push the bulb in, turn CCW and then it comes out.

That bulb socket is probably still okay. Just need to remove the rest of the old bulb.

Those are your turn signals. Dig the old bulb base out of it, soak it in some Coca Cola, coat a new bulb with dielectric and install.
Or buy a new socket if there’s something wrong with it.

Passenger side still works fine. Just dim.

Driver side wasn't working so that is the ineni brutalized.
The pic with the socket, you can see a piece of the copper wire, and same here with the bulb. I'm gonna head to napa and just buy some new ones. Replace both i suppose

You didn't take the bulb out right or the base was just siezed in the socket. You can most likely reach in with needle nose, grip the bulb base with is still in the socket push in and turn counter clockwise 90 degrees, then pull out. See the 2 nubs? They need to be lined up with the grooves in the socket. The nubs keep the bulb in place.

Thanks @Ricko1966. Still not certain if the OP understands that part of his light bulb is stuck in the socket still.
This is not an uncommon occurrence with old/corroded lights of this style.

Nah i get what he's saying, ive dealt with the turn to pop out bulbs before. Pic shows its pretty corroded in there. If that's the case, I'll jist buy some bran new 1157 and replace em both.

Side question here but still related. Since these are turn signals, doesn't the lens or bulb have to be orange? Like most modern cars signal range, the side markers on fenders of these trucks are orange.
Bjt both lenses are clear and so were both bulbs.
Or is that just a detail that doesn't really make a difference?
