hey fella friend of mine had to move out of state and he have me a dodge 440-3 engine. I'm a chevy man and i dont like mopar but i was wondering if any of you guys knew what the difference in a 440 and a 440-3?

dodge stopped 440's in car's around 1978 the 440-3 was used in motorhome's and in industrial application's until the mid 80's or so . It has different cooling passages in the block and head's than the older 440's.

how much could i get out of it has about 40k miles on it and runs like a top. I know i helped him pull it out. god knows ill never use it.

I would get it if the price is right mopar stuff aint cheap.

I can see a charger guy or challenger or something just diein for a 400 or even maybe a ram truck guy or something.

Yeah I think there's probably a ton of Mopar guys that would love to drop that down in their pickup.

There is a lot of 440's out of motor homes & car's out there and I see them on craig'slist here and there complete for 650 to 850 , maybe a little more if they are good runner's . The problem is mopar guy's are picky and they would not run a 440-3 in an old muscle car for show , only a drag car , stroker motor , or pick up.
