Dunno Ray. You must be an old coot too. I don't care for black wheels which is popular now days, I don't care for DONK or 24 inch wheels and they are popular now, I don't care for debadging and that is popular now, I like chrome and now it's popular to rip all the chrome off or paint it. I don't get it. Glad the auto makers are stlll badging and choming vehicles, and not using so many black wheels, or 24 inch wheels, but its a sign of the times. You buy a new vehicle, you have to take it tot he local chop shop and have it destroyed before it can be considered cool now days. What a shame !!!

I think it started in the mid 90's to some extent. I think for the SB's its hard to beat a set of truck rally wheels. Then again maybe I'm just gettin old.

Those aren't bad at all kleedus, and they don't look Donkish on bigger lifted trucks. I could go 20's on those trucks and like it for sure.
I hope someday to score some old school Centerlines or Weld Wheels.

In your case C4, the black is fine and the olive drab would be even better.

I'm with ya, I think it started around the same time everybody started rhino/bedlining the entire freakin trucks or at least alot of the outside of them.

I hate that crap.

I don't like big wheels either, give me some 15's or 16's and forget it.

I would hit up summit racing they got tons of wheels, way cheaper then local too, at least for me they sure were.

Yeah I agree use to chrome/polished were the only way now it's like people think black wheels go on everything. I'm not a fan of black wheels but do agree some trucks look good but me give me a set of polished bullet holes or a set of factory rallies with beauty rings

Black wheels have been popular for decades... they just usually had hub caps covering them up:crazy:

Black wheels have their place, like a mud truck or an old purpose built drag car. But I also like black wheels on about anything if there are trim rings and center caps involved. Modern cars can look good with black painted aluminum wheels with a simple machined lip, IMHO. But generally, I like my aluminum wheels to be machined and/or polished.

I will also say that most modern design truck wheels are ugly as a mud fence.

I'm with the OP on this one. I'm not sure when the "style" actually started but F-ing hate it!!! It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for anyone and everyone now breaking out their rattle cans and painting every single thing (including their OEM wheels) black and then thinking they're ride is suddenly cool cuz of it's "black rims". I need to spend less time on FSC I think :banghead:
