Yep..snow, mud, hills, hollars..you name it. The big box trk used to get suck in 2" of mud under one dual, after installing the DT locker 6" of snow in the street or off road didn't bother it !

I ran a Detroit Truetrak in the rear of our 1995 Suburban for 5 years before I heard a nasty noise and stopped driving it.

When I pulled the diff cover I found chunks of metal in the bottom.

Out the whole thing came and off to the repair shop for a full rebuild.

This is what we found inside the Detroit unit....

One of the helical gears loaded up and snapped off part of the gear tooth.
Not rad.
It may have been due to a slightly bent axle tube as we have had a wheel pop off the sub at one time years before the unit gave up. This is the only thing I could think of that would cause this failure as this is primarily my wife's grocery getter.

Now we have a Yukon Duragrip in there as they rearend feller has installed plenty of them and they seem to work like champs in all kinds of vehicles.

Luckily we stopped driving the thing soon enough that the fresh ring and pinion I had put in just a few years ago were undamaged.

Here we have the new unit installed and set right for many years of trouble free grocery getting.

We hit the whole thing with paint before we stuffed it back in there for the beauty of it.

So the Duragrip is similar to the Eaton limited slip diff? I'm not going back to a locker. I'm thinking I want to modify the 14ff with a limited slip and disc brakes if practical. I don't care for the humongous drums (#50/side). The ride quality between the SF and FF is night and day.
