Yep, either use that Th350/NP203 combo, or find you a used married combo of SM465/NP205. They're out there and you'll be way ahead in trying to convert all that mismatch and 2wd stuff. There's also SM465/NP208 aluminum Tcase combos that can be had also. There is both pros and cons to both the NP205 and the NP208. For one, that SM465/NP205 is likely to be a bit pricey. So I'd go with whichever combo I found first and go with it. Either one of those Tcases is better than the NP203 full time option any day of the week IMO.

Ok. Now I'm getting it!! the 203 has the 3rd member ish thingy in it for the front axles without the manual locking hubs.
The 205 is the big cast iron T case gear driven
The 208 is the small aluminun chain driven one
Is there an aluminum cased one for the full time option?

Thanks, hell I'm smarter already this morning! Have no experience with T cases, they never break, except the 208 cases....have welded up many of those cases for a trans shop and another mechanic in town. Fact of the matter is the one on my 84 is cracked and needs welded up.........

You're learning quick grasshoppa !!! :waytogo:

No Full Time Aluminum Tcase option for our year models. The ones that are, would be for AWD tcase systems that use sensors at the wheels for much newer vehicles than ours.

I won't swear to it, but I'd have a feeling that most of the 208's you welded up were do to people not replacing their motor, trans and Tcase mounts as needed, as well as removing those strut rods that people don't think serve a purpose. I know guys that beat the **** outta those NP208's and NP241C's and they just keep going. They also like them because they are lighter weight. However, you go twisting up a truck or romping on an engine trying to twist up that aluminum Tcase, it will crack. Keep the mounts in good shape, use the strut and torque rods that GM put on the trucks for a reason and you're not likely have many NP208 and NP241C failures like that.

Yes sir. Around here as well the slip joint on the front drive shaft will freeze up, and solid like a piece of pipe. Figure this happens from little use, little grease and the extremely fine dust we end up with??
Why mine is cracked, I've no idea? Every thing mentioned seems to be in order, but it's cracked and there IS a reason???

Not saying i know, but both of mine have them, only one the K10 started life as an auto. K20 has one as well and has always been a manual.... May end up with one left over off the 78 K10??
