In the distant near future I'm planning on swapping to an automatic, my budget is very limited as I'm stuck on disability for what ive been told will be the rest of my life! 32 and parkinsons..wonderful... either way now that that's off my chest... I'm slowing down for sure. When I take this out anybody want to swap for a th400 or th350? You can put a th350 in a k20 right? Anywho it works, I think pretty well for a 35 year old tranny if I say so myself, it's all original, 88,*** miles on it. I live in Hayward Wisconsin if anyone is interested.

Me personally I would go with the 400. Little more HD especially with a motor bigger than a 350. I also heard the 5 speed transmissions dodge uses in the 90s will fit. Thought I would mention that, but need to check into it. Will post a question soon to see what people know about that. Also sorry about your situation.

@Idiotgotasqaure I know it's been a while but if you haven't done this swap yet I can trade you a newly rebuilt TH350 and whatever else you need. I'm looking to put a SM465 in my Suburban. I'm just over 3hrs from you. Let me know.

I have a sm 465 on a frame and 90% sure one in my shop.

although, i must admit, if i dont have more than 1 im going to want more than a fair amount for it, simply because id like to keep one on hand to have it rebuilt so i dont have to take my truck out of comission long time

I found one on Craigslist for$500. Sm465/np205, adapter, crossmember, bellhousing and driveshafts but it was all pretty ruff. Bellhousing and front bearing retainer were broken, both adapter to crossmember bolts were broken off in the adapter, shift handle welds all cracked, lots of missing nuts/bolts and caked with about an inch of sticky, thick oil/grease/dirt. All the bearings are good, and the 205 looked great inside but the 465 has a small piece missing from the reverse fork and chewed up reverse gear. Everything shifts right(on the ground), i couldnt find a reverse fork and i dont have a press, so i resealed it and im gonna run it planning future rebuild(timeframe depending on how it acts). Luckily i had a bellhousing, some clutch linkage and a set of pedals laying around because that stuff adds up quick. Im just about to get the swap done but i have alot more time in this than i expected.

Pedals. I ended up pulling the whole column and still had a fight on my hands. Plan on pulling the column all the way out, or pull the seat so u can drop it all the way down.

Im pretty well done with the trans swap now except i gotta pull the front driveshaft and front bearing retainer cuz i got a leak. Think i put the wrong seal. The kit came with like 7 of them, and no direction as to what goes where. Thought i matched them up, but i see one that looks a little closer to the one that came out. I got some other stuff to button up under the hood before i can testdrive tho.
