Removing Wiper Arms???

Ok guys, can someone let me in on the secret of removing the wiper arms so I can remove the cowl. I've tried just about everything short of explosive ordinance. TIA :cheers:

there's a small flat piece of metal with a curve to go into the recessed ring on the splined wiper shaft. there's a tool for it, but I used a pic and a few curse words.

There is a small tab directly under the arm you need to pull up and towards the arm Then pull the arm assembly pry / lift from the side opposite the arm seems to work best.

Explosive ordinance always worked for me.

There's a little tang under the edge of the arm that slides onto the post. You need to lift that tang away from the ring in the wiper driveshaft and wiggle the wiper arm off.
Sounds easy right?

Hint: Get a paint mixing stick to use to hold up the tang and use another piece of wood to work back and forth on the wiper arm. Wood will help protect the finish.

These things fit TIGHT! A little PB Blaster squirted up inside of the arm won't hurt either.

Been a while. But you need to channel your inner octopus. I take the blade off just so its lighter. There's a tab you have to gently pry out while evenly pulling them off the shaft.

Make sure and mark where they are before pulling them off if you like how they are clocked. Otherwise you'll have them on and off a couple times on the install. Ask me how I know? What seems level isn't when you push them back on.

I found out that LMC sells a special tool that helps pull them. I've always just used a flat head screw driver to pry at the release.

Yea. You can get those at Advance and AZ and O'Reillys but I got it done with a scrap of wood (free). Free is good.

On my 76, I used a drum brake adjusting tool and put it behind the wiper arm and just pushed down on the other end and it popped right off.

I didnt use it for a square body arm, but I did use it for a 96 F150. So second the drum brake tool. I didnt even know thats what it did when I grabbed it from my tool pile.
