Some guys will argue the 10 bolt is strong enough for anything up to 37". Until they break down deep in BC back country and get sodomized by a sasquatch... or two. There are fates worse than death...

Front axle is a big knuckle Dana 44. came with 4:56 gears and Detroit. Tires are 36" I agree it's pushing it a little but I got a screaming deal on the donor vehicle that came with the 14 bolt FF and Dana 44 4:56 gears and Lockers so grabbed it up. I figured I can always sale the Dana 44 and upgrade to a 60. In fact Ive been looking online for a 60 king pin front axle with 4:56s

Ive caught a glimpse of a few of those BC sasquatch!! They come across the border down into Montana occasionally. I agree don't care to be stuck overnight near the BC border which I do travel. Have see them in the fall but never spring time! Must be the cold northern winters driving them south

I think they are good to about a 35". Bigger if the vehicle is light.

I am nice to mine with the 37s. Make sure to keep from binding it up best I can. But I do carry spares.

I'm suspicious of my suburbans rear end always....

I know I said I was going to run 10 bolts with 36x14's under the s10 and I am.
I'm gonna push em hard until they quit, and once they die, I guess I'll upgrade to bigger axles

Honestly the only time it worries me is when the front gets pinched in the rocks.

Dont mind popping U-Joints or axles. But I did see a guy spin an axle tube(Chrysler 8.25). That for some reason has stuck with me, and has become my fear. Lol

Ya, but if you're too concerned, put a few short beads along the seam @ the tube/housing intersection

I wish I could get my hands on a set of them.
Same guy I got my 5 tons from in Florida sells them, but everytime I ask it seems like he's out of them.
That would be ideal for the s10 swap.

I had a line on some used King coilovers. I cut all the perches and mounts off the 1008 axles. The guy snipped the line shortly after. Been sitting ever since.

You've been called worse...
I admire your driving skills, but I think it's bad advice to say they are "good to about 35"". Maybe better to say, a good driver who is aware of his equipment limits can get away with the 10 bolt and 35's.
Just that, driving finesse has a tendency to go wrong when you're being chased by an 11" **** Sasquatch.

Regarding the mighty D60...

I've mentioned this here before but I got yelled at.
I'm going there again guys and this time I'll be more specific..

A stock D60 is theoretically NO stronger than a 10 bolt or D44. The stub shafts on the D60 neck down to the same size as D44/10 bolt axles. THAT is the weak link. Fortunately you can upgrade to D70 stub shafts (no longer in production but the aftermarket has them) that are 35 spline so also have to upgrade your locking hubs.
Then the next weak link is the U joint on the drive shaft.

Yes everything else is stronger and even though you have a necked down stub shaft, the steering U joints on the D60 are larger and way more reliable than the D44/10 bolts.
Friends don;t let friends wheel hard on stock D60s... upgrade the stub shafts! Don't get raped by sasquatch...
