Well- this was 400 vs 454 but there was a lot about the 400 in it. And sooner or later someone will come in and say screw small blocks- you need a big block. :rotflmao:

You looking to install one or the other in your truck?

I've had 3 400's in the past and my dad has one. Been a good engine. For me I didn't truck local engine builders to rebuild my old 400 so went with a GM crate 383. Best of both worlds 350/400... but probably spent more than I should have.

If I had a 400 to use, that's what I would use. That's what I did the last time I had a 400 :)

If I had some ham, I'd have ham and eggs, if I had some eggs.

Gonna build a pickup bed camper to put in the 73 C20. C20 currently has 350 CID 195/280 HP crate motor. Trying to determine if the 400 would be better than the 350 for this application.

Love BBC but don't have one. LS is also cool, BUT I DON'T HAVE ONE.

My 406 has more than enough torque without getting silly with the cam. Nice idle, and power is immediate. I'm actually contemplating putting it in the 89 V2500. Want to go 421+ on an aftermarket 400 block in the 77.

Have you had the 400 block inspected?

It's a running motor. Factory 2 bbl. Replacement motor. Radiator holds pressure.

Lol.....:favorites13:

I'm just starting an 89 suburban build and the first step is getting a new engine so I'm in the same delima of debate with myself.
