Axle swap

So early today I purchased a use axle ten bolt 8.5 with 3:42 gears to replace my existing rear end witch has a 2:73 but the axle I bought came from a 1989 i was hoping I could just swap axle shafts and have gears and go what’s the cheapest alternative sell the axle I just bought and buy some gears and set them up could use help thanks

Btw, nobody knows what your question is exactly because you didn't say what parts you were trying to swap or why. 5 lug, 6 lug? 28 spline to 30 spline? Or swapping the whole thing?
