I seem to recall hearing that the bolt in tunnel was still there for a year or two ofter the body change in '81, but the one piece floor is what you'll find in most of the eighties vintage trucks.

Yep, that's normal. I wish they would have left it the old way. Swapping a C-cab onto a K-frame or vice versa would be a weld-free operation.

x2. I'm about to cut the perfectly rust free floor out of my 88' and modify a 78' bolt in hump to work, for my NV4500 swap. My life would be much easier if I could just bolt it in...le sigh.

It sounds daring going into it, but I'll bet it'll be worth it in the long term.

It wasn't quite that early, they were still bolt-in as late as '83. That could have been the last year though.

How much clearance do you need? You might get away with a small body lift... like 1". If you will do any serious 4wheeling, don;t go more than 1" or the cab will eventually begin to wiggle and squirm around. Plus it looks looks dork town.

My truck is a 2WD, so I'll be avoiding body lifts like the plague. Besides, I already started cutting, lol! A very basic, rough cut just to get started, but still...it's a hole and all, hah.

Did the 2wd trucks get a removable tunnel, or was that only the 4x4s and manual trans trucks?
