I just skimmed through here, and I realize the last post was almost 3 years ago, but I was wondering how your carpet fit after?

Not good. I had to take it to a shop and get some carpet custom fitted so that it'd fit right

I'm not sure honestly. I have not researched this mod in a burb.....yet

EDIT: in my 87, there is a hump but I have no idea how it compares to the hump that was originally in my '77

If it's similar to a crew cab it's quite different from a truck. I wanted to put some Gmt400 seats in the dually I had but the floor was so different between a single cab and the crew that none of the ideas I found would translate over. I'm sure it would work but you'd probably have to flatten the floor like you did in the truck to use the factory seat tracks

That's essentially what I did in my '77 as seen at the beginning of this thread. The only reason it wasn't 100% flat is because the frame rails come up mid cab lol

I know this is an old thread, but I'm wanting to do this swap into my 86 k1500. my measurements look like if I was to just build a frame to bolt these seats to, I would end up increasing the height of the seats about 1 inch compared to what the bench is. The set that I picked up has a power driver seat and it appears there is going to be some adjustment up and down on the seat. This is important for me because I am 6'5" and all my height is from my waist up... I have the shortest damned legs ever for a tall guy. My truck has a tilt wheel and the seats that I picked up are just like the ones in post #67. I'm not able to do a tank relocation at this time, but want to get these seats in in the worst way. Do you think I'd be alright building a simple frame to bolt these seats to and then fabricate some mounts to get it mounted to the floor of the truck?

If you can build the frame "flat" enough, maybe! Just measure, measure, measure. I went the route I did because I wanted it to appear as stock as possible which was accomplished when it was finished. So all you can do is give it a try and see how it goes.

i know this thread is old, but i was cruising through this forum looking for low back bucket options for my truck.

not sure what gmt mine are out of. late 90s or early 2000s tahoe LT. mine have a low profile bracket mounting them to the stock floor. the seat is unmodified. funny that the electronics work in the seats, but its not like they're going very far. one thing about a higher backed seat is that the headrest is above the rear window line. if the seat is in the full back position, the headrest will rest on the rear glass. it can mildew from condensation forming between the head rest. if its leather like mine, you can wipe it off pretty easy. i just move the seat back forward a half an inch so there is a gap, for the wetter months. i'm 4 inches shorter than you are, but my head is nowhere near the roof. the height seems just right.

GMT400 is the 88-98 body style trucks which had 3 different series of seats as far as fabric print head rests or not etc. 88-91ish, 92-94 and 95-98 but all had the same bracketry. Then the GMT800 is the 99 and up body style so yours probably are the GMT800 seats.

Did you have to modify the brackets to get the seats in your square? You make it sounds like it was a direct swap!

I'm wanting to do a swap in my 84. I have the rear seat out of a 2011 Tahoe, the width is fine but got to figure out making a frame for the bottom of the seat since the one attached is too tall.

Old77, I know this is an old thread, hopefully you can recall some of it. I did the 06 Tahoe seat swap. Got the electric an everything is working fine. Not a lot of adjustment room at all. I removed everything off the bottom of the seat, down to the rails. I installed some steel plates and bolted them to the existing mounting holes in the floor. Then I bolted through the rails into the plate steel. I can't go any lower, an just a couple of inches will do. Is it worth the hassle to cut the floor down and is it even possible without relocating the tanks?

What you’re running into is exactly why I went the route I did with cutting the floor to get the seats down to the proper level. Without being there and see what you’re dealing with I can’t say for 100% certain that you HAVE to cut the floors and that’s your only option but it’s a strong likelihood. IF you do decide that you have to modify your floors to make them fit you will definitely have to relocate your gas tanks.
