New guy V8 swap

I'm helping a buddy do a 6cyl to v8 swap in a 77 C10. We are having trouble finding the engine mount brackets that bolt to the block. I mostly work on fords so i'm not too familiar with chevys. I do know that for the most part, chevy did an excellent job of making a lot of things "universal" so to speak. I have located a set of clamshell brackets, but the info on them is vague. Will these work? Any and all info is appreciated........even some flaming about being a ford guy. LOL

that link is exactly what you want to bolt on the block and mount it in the frame, tons made, should be easy and cheap to find.

lmc has new ones too.

I've got a couple more questions about the swap.
Am I going to run into firewall clearance issues running a "cap mounted coil" HEI distributor?

The engine is from a '90 1500 pickup. I should be good to go mounting the tranny (TH350) using the stock flexplate from the '90.....correct?

The engine is getting new bearings and rings, a summit 1102 cam and lifters, Z28 valve springs, new valve seals, new timing set, all new gaskets, replacing oil pump, water pump and keeping the serpentine set up. It's going to tow a concrete pump which is what made my decision on the cam. Otherwise, I would have opted for the next one up.

No clearance issue, and if the flexplate was used with a 700r4 (most likely for a 1500), then yes it should work fine with the th350.

What was all the commotion about a flex plate not working from th350 to 700r4 a few weeks back on one of the posts?

I have mounted a Diesel TH400 torque converter, a TH400 and a 700R4 all on the same flex plate with no issues.

Ah yes, I may have misspoke. I forgot the 700r4 converter probably used the large bolt pattern like a th400. So if the flexplate doesn't have the dual bolt pattern, it will probably need replaced.

Not a problem. I have to buy a new one anyhow so I'll make sure i get one with the dual pattern.

So I looked up the flexplate for both a 1990 and a 1977. I noticed that for 77 they don't list anything engine specific.
Will the 1977 flexplate work on the 1990 350 or are they balanced different?.

They changed in '86 due to an update of the rear main seal. The crank flange is different and the flexplate has a balance weight welded to it.

I think what I'll do is take the one off of the 77 to the parts store with me and compare them. As long as the center holes are the same, I can drill the new one for the bolt holes if the pattern is too big.
The pic on Advance Autos web site shows 6 holes, but I can't tell if it's a pattern for a 6 bolt converter or a dual pattern plate.
