FYI....when Jim said "LS" he's referring to LS-based motor which your LQ9 is. :waytogo: He was not referring to LS1, LS2, LS3,...

I was reffering to his Lt1 comment. And yes i know its a Lq9, cause its a 6.0 with 317 heads.
And i know its an ls based engine.

Question for you guys. The lq9 balencer is a little bit different as far as shape, but can i put an ls1 balencer on it?

What is on it:

What i want to run:

Also, what intakes interchange? I know the ls2 squareport wont bolt up to my cathedrals.
I need a little bit sleeker intake, the truck intake sets up pretty high, and i dont think it will clear my montes hood.

You should be able to run the LS6 intake. It's lower profile, and a good addition to your LQ9. In fact, your 317 heads are pretty much identical to 243 LS6 heads.

Correct, the only difference is that the 317 are a lower compression ratio compared to the 243's.

Wonder how hard it is to find a ls6 intake???

Just a couple heads up:
This will be a long slowwww build.
This is possibly going in my monte.
But alot of the fundementals are the same,
so i figured here was a good place.
And this engine build is supposed to be fun, So im going to experiment with some stuff on it.

Ideas of as now:
Look at the internals
get a harness/computer
LS6 intake, mabey a FAST
Mabey 243 heads, doubt it
Headers
Fuel pump on the frame
Pretty wild cam
Hoping to hit 480-500 at the crank.
High flow rails with mabey little bit higher cc injectors, autozone has some that are like 983cc but i dont think i need that LOL.

Good news, popped off the pan and windage tray today. NO shattered rods YAY. But The oil is ucky. So looks like all the engine needs is to be freshened up(new bearings, rings). And Its a 6 Bolt main, Its actually really cool looking since ive grown up around the older Small block chevys.

Yep, and 2 of those bolts on the mains are splayed right? You have 4 bolts straight down into the block, and 2 are angled right?

Yea, 4 down, 2 sideways from the side of the block.

OK, that's not actually splayed either, but that is even a better set up IMO. Ford Modular motors are that way too. The 4.6 and the 5.4. Very strong bottom ends.
