Wtb: old license plates

Just looking for a stack of old license plates. I’m gonna use em to make panels for my fire wall to try and block debris from collecting in the inner rocker etc. figured cheap and workable route!

If you’ve got a stack of 10+ It would be awesome. Name your price and shipping cost I can get it over asap!

You should be able to get those pretty easily at a local swap meet. Near me(Phoenix), they usually about $2-3 each for newer plates and starting around $10 for vintage.

I would have thought you would use something like roofing flashing, maybe in 2 layers with panel adhesive/ construction adhesive.

That’s not the Midwest way!
Most of the reason I now have a big license plate collection is dad used to save license plates. Back then got new plates every year.
Most of them were used for rust repair.

great way to fix large rusty welds in vehicles.
(closed cell of course,...don't want sand/ water/ ice getting up in your fix).

I think they are artistic things for walls, and re-use.

save any for swap meet / antique dealing .... ?
(seen antique plates ask and sell for 35-70$,....often,...).

is it legal to put them on a period correct antique PA car ? (so like someone with a 78 square body, can apply with DMV to put a 1978 era plate on it against a current registration for an antique. )

...such would be what I can do in NY. ... have to call a special DMV office though
(take pics of them and attach it to the application for postal mail, state that they are mint/ like new)....

In Kansas you can have a year correct tag assigned to your antique vehicle. As in I have a 66 Chevelle and managed to find a 66 Kansas Tag for it.

You totally can register old tags via 76 and below I believe. In Virginia it’s 1973 and below. I’m one year short for a 74 tag

I just need random plates for building patch panels for my fire wall. Brainstorming an idea lol
