Working at the Post office we could see the change Ebay first then Amazon! It was like insider trading but didn't have enough funds at the time to invest in either.
In late 1999-early 2000 I heard a clip on the radio that said if you invested $1,000 in Home Depot whenever they started, you'd been a multi-millionaire by the airing of that info coming over the radio.

I remember I was in college ~08ish the first time I heard of Amazon. I was buying my books at the school store and a friend of mine told me about Amazon. I remember most of us then thought of Amazon about like we think of Temu now, know alot of people that have bought stuff off there but don't really trust it enough to try it myself lol
If I recall correctly it started in the mid-90s and was only books. I thought it was a stupid idea, boy was I wrong. I bought a lot from them 15 years ago, but stopped because I don't like or agree with the business model. It's a great free-for-all, I just stay away from it. I gravitate towards local and only buy online if I absolutely have to, and never from amazon.

I read that if you bought $100 worth of Walmart stock at its IPO back in 1970 it would be worth almost $5,000,000 today.

In my Home Depot post, it very well could have been 100 dollars that they said on the radio, but 26 years and many sleeps, my old brain may have misremembered. Either way, quite the investment for those that took the plunge/gamble

I grabbed me a set of Snap-On scrapers last week, been wanting a set forever. These were about 40% cheaper than average but I think it was because of the gray handles. I don’t have anything gray nor have I ever seen this color so they’ll make a nice addition to my hard handle collection.

My new lawnmower came today. Just need to fit the PTO shaft and I’ll be good to go this weekend.

My finds from the annual Six Flags swap meet this past Saturday. Crimpers, strippers, blow guns, needle files, and feeler gauges. I spent $23 total.

Two of the Ideal Stripmasters are the "normal" jaws

And the third is for smaller wire down to 26 gauge.

A coworker gave me this little Homelite chainsaw yesterday. I have a big old Homelite Super XL-925 for big stuff. This one is 33cc, I think would do ok for light work and limbing and stuff.

I just saw those strippers on David Frieburger's YouTube. I'd never seen them before, I'm def gonna keep an eye out for some
I always keep my eyes out for strippers. I think they should hire them for more diverse jobs,I'd frequent,Caseys,Dollar General,Pizza hut more often if they did.

I remember when the books they are selling came by way of buying out Biblicon (forget how the name went). The prices for books there were better, before Amazon bought it out, and there wasn't anything I couldn't find. They even sold Bibles hundreds of years old (none signed by the author, though). ;)

The bees knees man. You won't be disappointed.

I saw that video too, and thought 'I have one of those with the radio stuff. Should dig it out for the square'.
