Washer fluid won't stop squirting

Hi all,

I have a 1982 Chevy C20 Custom Deluxe and a wiper and washer system that is 88% working.
There's only 1 of 8 possible functions that is failing.
After I push in the wiper switch to squirt washer fluid, it starts squirting and never stops until the switch is manually turned off.
All other functions of the wiper system seem to work fine. See chart below.

Turning off the switch stops wiping and squirting, but as soon as I turn the wipers back on, it starts squirting again.
If I leave it off and alone for maybe something like 30 minutes, then it seems to reset,
but if I leave the wipers wiping (like one would do on a long-enough rainy drive, the washer fluid will continue squirting until the washer fluid reservoir is completely emptied).
I bought the truck in the spring of '24 and this particular function has never worked correctly.

The wiper pump and motor parts look newish, and so I presume that one of the previous owners replaced them closer to the year when I acquired the truck (as opposed to when the truck was actually manufactured).
I tried replacing the dash switch, but that had no affect on how it works.
I have also included pictures of the parts inside "the power barn" that hopefully will help somebody see what's wrong.

Mine did the same it was a bs china wiper switch.

Mine is doing the same. Replaced the motor and switch, now it only sprays when wipers are on. Ever find a cure?

Not yet. I'm waiting until spring to change the in-dash wiper switch for a 2nd time because I don't have a warm place to work on the truck right now.

Let us (most importantly Me) if replacing the switch worked. I’ve replaced the motor and switch and nothing.

The wipers and washer are switched via ground. So if the washer keeps squirting, something is grounded that shouldn’t be. That could be an issue in the delay module (if equipped) or an issue with the harness where the washer and wiper wires are touching so when the wiper is on, the washer is also grounded.

Yah, the delay module would make sense. Where do I find that part? Is it inside the wiper switch itself?

The scenario of the washer and wiper wires are touching, sounds like a decent theory, but since it doesn't happen when the wipers are first activated, then I don't think it fits the symptoms. I think, in that scenario, the washers would start squirting immediately every time.

In my case, they only start squirting when ask them to by pushing the switch lever inwards (towards the dash).
Then they don't stop squirting until I turn off the wipers completely.
Even then, they will start squirting immediately when I turn the wipers back on, unless the truck is left alone for a while (hours or maybe days).
I'm not sure how long it needs to be off before it resets itself, but it does eventually reset itself. Just not quickly.
If I turn off the engine completely, and immediately turn it back on, that does NOT reset it.

It's hard to see a grounding problem when the connector looks like the unmodified factory original (see today's photo below).
So, I'm still thinking it's a bad Chinese switch like Milled76 experienced.

I think that later in the week (or this weekend), I will pull that connector off and check for continuity between each combination of two pins (using my multimeter) to see if any of them are touching each other. Just to see if any combination of two make a circuit. Maybe I'll learn something.
