Got it for $25.....

I plan on taking pics along the way as I take it apart and clean it up. It's own little mini-thread. Or start one for my truck. Anyways, I was excited to get it and needed to share with guys that understand, unlike my wife!

You stole it too. So what year and model did it come out of ? We need to post that in our Cluster thread. We can leave it here, but I will COPY that post with a year and model description.

Posted it there before here! They said it was from an 80's, not sure on the exact year. Being a 100mph speedo I believe it is a 78-79, and Retro said the same thing. I got it from a hillbilly parts place. They knew nothing about it other than it was an old cluster and they thought they could make some lunch money off it. So now I have something to mess with when the snow is falling.

Got the garage queen moving under it's own power. Bled the brakes, installed a Lokar throttle bracket and cable and put an exhaust system on it so I won't piss off the neighbors by running it with open headers.

Since I don't have the tools or a garage I am now a sinner. I paid a shop to drop and replace my fuel tank and fix the oil leak. Dad had put a timing chain cover on that had a hole in it cause he was being cheap and I didn't realize it was corroded through. The upside is that when I get my truck back it will have zero leaks. It was spitting over a quart of oil a week... :(

Quality looking cover so far. Time will tell of course. Nice Progress. I wish I could say the same. Even the little jobs add up. Been to damn cold and making the ailments 3X worse than normal. Holidays didn't help much either. OK, nuff excuses for me !!! Til next time....

I have had good luck with the California Car cover brand. I had one for both of my vettes and one for my SSR. They come with a 4 year warranty. I got a few more things I would like to get done before I pack it in for winter. If you want to call what I get down here winter. Below 60 degrees and my ass is on the couch.

So here is what I got done this afternoon...

Started with a clean slate:

Drilled out the holes a tad, mounted up the brackets:

Springs were'nt too bad to get in. Drivers side was harder due to the exhaust:

Once everything was bolted up and greased:

Pass side...

Drivers side... I knew the exhaust would be an issue and have a remedy for that....have to wait till I re-test my emissions because it has to be accessable for them....

Based upon my initial measurements the front sits about .75 to 1" higher....which doesnt bother me. Axle appears to be center in the wheel well. That angle looks like it may need some adjusting... both sides measured at 40*

Todays goal was to get the tank back up under the truck...

Figured Id try something here and slide a bicycle inner-tube over the tank straps:

Dude I so love your K5... the blue with the black is awesome... when I put my tank back up I used that rubberized thick paper stuff from under the shingles of roofing... trimmed up easily and looks like it was never touch... lol
