yea same kind of thing attaching a side cable to a top post . i looked for that kind first but the ones at the parts store looked cheaply made . forget where i got mine but are holding up good so far .
another reason i hate side posts is that the thread for the tiny bolt is inside the battery . this can wear out if you disconnect the cables a lot
like say for working on electrics . at least like the ones you and i have wont do that .

Finally got my new front coils, spindles, tie rod ends installed on the rebuilt control arms.
Cleaned up the inside of the front cap and did a little rust clean up and primered those spots.
Forgot to take a pic............
Next are the rotors and new calipers, hoses, seals etc.
Couple pictures, the calipers and hoses will be replaced too.

Sprayed some aluminum brightener on my rims to get the brake dust caked on off. Then hit with a pressure washer. 3 times and it's all gone. Now I have to polish them. Ugh

Mike,
I used the stock Moog coils (#6452 and Western Chassis 2 1/2" dropped spindles.
I started using the compressor, but the bolt ran up too far and wouldn't go in the pocket.
My buddy and I finnagled (sp) the springs in place enough and jacked up the lower CA. They popped in.
Just be sure that the spring is seated and doesn't fly out when you jack it up.
Took about an hour total to get them in.
Did you buy different shocks or using stock?

Nice! Gotta give ya credit waxing it by hand. I used to own a detail shop and have waxed many a vehicle. Your 81 short bed is how I pictured my 82. From color to bed rails and rims. Nice looking truck!

Finally got the 427 in the tug. Had to do some modifications, but everything fits well now. Started getting some accessories on.
Got one manifold in and bolted up. Other one won't fit.
Got the water pump and alternator and bracket jigged up temporarily to see how itll fit. So far so good. Need to make a parts run before i go much farther.

Worked out 5-6 dents with different spoons, levers, rods, body dollies and hammers. The one in the back corner of the bed took some effort from the rear tail light. Mostly worked on passenger side, welding some metal next.
