And again guys, rust converter after sand blasting... rub it in good with a soaked rag. Then wash off with water. Then prime and paint. If rust returns (it will) you can see it bubbling the paint and it's easy to get to it and fix. Any kind of undercoat or rubberized bed liner stuff will hide the eventual rust that will return and until it gets really bad you won't see it.

Did you use rust converter first? Your frame is probably rusting underneath the undercoat. Sad thing is you won't see returning it until it gets quite bad.

I always do that when I use it now. Back then I did not, I’m afraid.

my phosphoric acid solution says to leave it on overnight then to wash it off with water. water on bare metal just before you prime it sounds kinda funny, but they are the chemists, not me.

I think it’s to stop the reaction because it’ll keep going and turn all white and gross if you leave the acid there.

Same as converter, you have to wash it off with water before you prime. At least the raw metal is left in a state of... oxide prime!

Water neutralizes acid. If you left it sitting there, it would be a problem, but if you wipe it off, no harm done.
