Got my old steel wheels powder coated and some new rubbers on. 235/85/R16 Good Year Wrangler Workhorse. Can't really tell from the picture, but I really like the tread on these tires. Just a good goin ta town tire but still got a little meat on em. Amazing what a little powder coat will do to a wheel! Now I just need to find some hubcaps..

The truck looks great!

How much did it cost you to powder coat the set of wheels? I need to do something similar, and am debating between painting them or doing it right like you did.

I purchased a set of them Goodyear workhorse tires too, agree on your assessment and they are fairly priced tire with great ratings. I plan to mount my wheels this summer. Your wheels are looking much better and will look even better with some dog dish caps.

$875 for 5 wheels. For the sand blast and powder coat. You could save quite a bit if you find someone with a sandblaster and do it yourself.

So, everyone else has the same question as me: When does the Square get the same attention as the wheels?

Gotta start somewhere right? Since the tires were from the 90s and about to explode at any moment, I thought that was a good place to start. hoping to get started on the body soon. The tranny could use a rebuild too, so maybe do those at the same time? Itll be sad to have it out of commission for that long though...

Just bustin' your chops there gramps. The wheels look great and I'm certain when there's an opportunity then the rest of the truck will follow suit. I drove my 72 Camaro for years in primer and when asked "when are you gonna paint it" I always retorted: "when you are paying for it"! It took me several years to get it done but now it has been painted for 20 years and is up for another renewal. They are NEVER completed...

Looks good Kalvin! My 73 K20 had the 16.5" wheels. My plan was do what you did until I realized how hard it is to find tires for that wheel size. I ended up getting some 16x8 Wheel Vintiques and powder coating them white. I love that old school look!

I'm digging the headache rack with integrated bed rails. The wheels do look good. They are needing some dog dish caps.
