ok so i got it bolted back up. ended up bolting the crossmember to the adapter plate first, I put in two bolts loose on one side, oh i moved the spacers to the bottom of the rail, figured id make it easier on myself, i have a 4'' lift block and front spring to go on, and it made it way easier to start the nuts, then i used air ratchet to buzz it all tight. worked out.
now onto the transfer case...

Cool !!! I had to do mine a bit different too since I had some bent issues on the frame rails from the bent crossmember. Pretty much sucked, but I did get it in and it's working fine.

I never did get it perfect but got it pretty damn close. Had a piece of 3.5 or 4 in heavy guage channel iron that I drilled a hole into. Then used a hardened bolt, and air tools and tightened the hell out the channel iron with the bolt to the frame and is sucked the frame to match the channel iron edge and flatten it out.

i might have to try that!

does it really matter though if the crossmember is angled forward?

No, not really. The flexible trans/crossmember mount absords some of that angle.
