new exhaust?
Well I went to a salvage yard today and picked up a manifold for $20. Think I'm going to save a little extra cash and splurge for the Thorly trial y's. Also picked up some more goodies while I was there. Got all the a/c duct, nice shiny t case shift assembly and new a looking a/c control unit...- kc87

I have a 4 wheel drive but I didn't think it mattered as far as headers go unless frame widths are different.- kc87

Yeah I could see where clearance would be an issue. I had just enough room to get the stock manifold out and I had the fender and inner removed.- kc87

I noticed last night that my right exhaust manifold is cracked and was thinking about replacing them with a set of headers. Anyone have any suggestions on who makes a decent set. I still have all the smog crap hooked up and was planning on keeping it unless there's a real benefit to getting rid...- kc87

I had a CJ7 that did this to me. Turned out there was a wire from the switch to motor that was broke. So I would think it is a switch problem or bad connection from switch to motor. I have an 87 with column switch I'll take a look at it tonight and see if I can tell witch wire controles the park...- kc87

ac vacuum lines
When selector switch is in a/c position you should have vacuum on the brown line. That is where I would start checking for leaks. However if there is no change in airflow no matter what position selector is in Defrost, a/c, heat etc. You may have a leak in the main vacuum line (grey one). -

Yeah sounds logical to me. I pulled the vacuum switch out of my control unit and disassembled it to try and make sense of the whole vacuum mess. There is a rubber disk with a maze of groves cut in it that sits against the plastic manifold that your vacuum lines all connect to. On mine the rubber... -

Switch position dictates vacuum on these lines. Off -blue,max-brown&orange, norm-brown, bi level-none, vent-brown, heat (floor)-blue, defrost-blue&black. I hope this helps someone out along the way. -

Last one is the solid black. It connects to the actuator located on the left side of the unit. Just left of the floor air outlet. This damper switches air from floor to defrost. -

Next are the brown and blue lines. These run to an actuator located on the back side of the unit and I don't think you can even get to it while its installed in the truck. OK I figured it out. It took taking the entire unit out of thej truck to diagnos how everything works, or in my case didn't work. But it was all full of leaves and dirt so it needed to be cleaned out anyways. Being I found no documented info on how this stuff hooks up I figured I'd let y'all... -

Hey guys I need a little help here. I'm trying to figure out where all the vacuum lines go that run the AC duct dampers. I've found very little info on this and my manual leaves a lot to be desired. Does anyone have a diagram for these lines or know where I can find one? Thanks -

blower motor not working.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows anything for the a/c & heater controls. My book seems to always have just enough info to get me nowhere. My blower motor is not working. I have power at the big red wire that goes to what I'm guessing is a relay that's bolted to the blower motor...- kc87

Yup, got a rich mixture in the tank right now. No where near road ready yet but I'm anxious to go cruise it. Might have to throw a bucket in it and go down the dirt roads. Haha.- kc87

Well I checked the injectors and one wasn't spraying so I swapped the connectors and still no change so I put another injector in it and at last she's running again and pretty good too. There where also some vacuum lines I found that had rotted. So thanks for everyones help. I'm sure I'll be...- kc87

I'll try it tonight when I get home. There currently is no windshield in it so I should be able to crank it over and check out the spray pattern by myself. On the other hand maybe I could get a buddy to stick his head over that flame thrower. Haha. Thanks for the tips.- kc87

Not sure about the spray pattern on both injectors. I'm pretty sure driver side was not spraying much if at all. Once it started I was going to look at that until it backfired in my face. I didn't need those eyebrows anyway. Haha. If I disconnect the coil wire to eliminate any chance of igniting...- kc87

Alright tonight I took the injectors out and cleaned out the tbi it was pretty dirty. It starts now but is running pretty bad and is backfireing through the intake. Tomorrow I'm going to check the timing.- kc87
