Rear drum brake hot and screaming.

Yeah - changed the shoes this Weekend. Got worse and worse. Now: Silence. :)

Thank you. I`ve decided to try.

Good tire size for 7" Rallye Wheels

Currently I am having 235/75 R 75 on my 7". Now - since some parts of the wheels are rusty I will use the worsening weather to strip the tires and shoot a layer of Silver over the old rims. Do some polishing of the beauty rings and detailing of the faded caps. While doing that, it may also be...

    Smeary glass

Clean Carpet with carpet cleaner. Clean upholstery with Armorall Wipes. Do not use textile dash covers etc. Get yourself a passive dehumidifier Box at Home Depot and put it into the cab and leave it there for 24 hours.

    Bed Rails

Found it. Believe it or not: Wood vinyl Duck Tape. If not nice: I'll leave it blank.

Rear drum brake hot and screaming.

Lugs and studs are among the few commodities available here in EU. I'm least worried. :)

    Bed Rails

Thx. I`ll check that. Worst case - I`ll end up buying the rear panel sheet for a Roadmaster Wagon. It should be long enough not to patch up too often. Price will be hefty of course. But for the true 70ies look...well...

Rear drum brake hot and screaming.

Good Point. It came original with the HD RPO. I ordered HD drums. OK. Another session.... Only cool point - with opening the drums every three days they`ll never rust-lock. o_O

    e320 wagon

If rust is not your concern - can`t go wrong with a W210. Not too much to worry about. Simple but durable transmission, the V6 is much more reliable than the old 320-24v inline 6. Be a bit careful with the rear suspension. It can create expensive surprises. It eats rotors btw. Here in Germany...

    Bed Rails

I got the original chrome "Boat" type bedrails with the faux-wood decal. Now, after 40 years I need to re-do the decor decal (faded to almost nothing left). Anyone with an idea, where to source self-adhesive wood decor which is meant for the outside (UV resistant)? 3M Di-Noc isn`t. They are...

Rear drum brake hot and screaming.

Just did the rear axle. New bearings left and right, new seals, new drums (old ones could not be turned again - 40 years old.....), new wheel cylinders, shoes were still good and re-used. Springs, brace etc. all good and re-used. E-Brake cables good, working and release fully. Adjuster working...

Looking for OEM Style Floor Mats

Got those from Rockauto. Not cheap but a nice, heavy, plush and OEM style. You can get them in any color and also without the logo. I paid approx. 70 Bucks (+shipment and customs to Europe....).

    Paint

Thanks. Tried them. Did not work out. Then tried to send to a friend in Delaware and pick up personally in December. Not working either.

    Paint

Desperately trying to find an online source for GM Colors. Everybody we have here over in Europe tells me the same story - no mixing recipe for the colors I want to order. Even if I tell them the precise recipe (Glasurit based for example). Does anybody know a source which sends - at least...

    Odd man in Europe

Thank you. The story from the Twin Cities to Houston was an adventure of its own. The tires were good but 15 years old. Like stone. The brakes were also good but as old. Stone too. The exhaust was one rust hole after the other. The alternator was delivering not much more than 11V. So I arrived...

    Odd man in Europe

Thanks Matt. I`ll be in the Chicago Suburbs in April. I may take the time to drive up there to see the plant before they take it down. I have a strange Habit: Whenever I go to important places, I collect a stone. A Stone of the Janesville assembly would be great Souvenir....

Thank you all. Well, we stand firm in our affection for old american iron and the lifestyle around it. But we`re not pampering our "T". He also does yardwork for us and tows our horses. I`ll post some pics in the relevant thread later today.

Thank you. Actually built in your state (Janesville) and first sold thru a dealership in St.Cloud MN. I'm still in contact with the son of the trucks first owner. He kept it three years after his father passed away in 2010. I bought it in MN thru friends in Minneapolis, drove it to Texas and...

    Odd man in Europe

Hello Forum! Driving around in our 1977 C15 Sierra Classic can be interesting over here in BMW/Mercedes/Porsche/VW Country. Although most of us "older" Germans know the C/K Series well in US Army Camouflage pattern before they have been replaced by Humvee and others, large pieces of American...
