You're still in it pretty cheap with price+ a few parts and some sweat. Have you decided if you're keeping it yet or selling for profit? Is your square your daily? You thinking of maybe keeping this one for a daily? Probably going to be a bit better on mpg. However, sometimes a bit better isn't good enough being that you'd have another vehicle to maintain, tag, insure etc. :shrug:

Can you not just take the bracket off the back of it or is it all 1 pc?

It's a one piece bracket, two bolts on ps pump, two on the manifold, and one on the alt. Yeah, since its giving me a good fight, I decided to keep it, I'm gonna dd it. Plus I'm learning a lot from it. My square is gonna take a break for a little while. I love that truck! What I don't like is the mpg! Hey, but my square is a ***** magnet. So it kinda justifies the extra dollars for gas.

Now the dilema is, buying new stock manifolds? Or shoty headers that will bolt up to the stock Y piping, And where to find them at a reasonable price?

Shorty headers are the intermediate between factory manifolds and long tubes. You should net a small improvement with the shorties, but you can find manifolds for dirt cheap. Check out Craigslist. I've gotten good deals on exhaust parts there before.

In Pa emissions is strict, damn tree huggers,but headers are a non issue here as long as they dont leak.

Stainless shorties most likely Chinese for $100-$120 and questionable fit/leaks etc., If you went with a Good brand, on sale around $250, high end over $500, good brand on sale for the fit and less problems and "headaches"
Sensors placement or tune requirements might change due to more air flow going out.
How about just going with the one side used replacement till "everything is panned out" and go with a new set down the road?

I've tossed around the idea of just going to a junker and getting some used manifolds, but I'm really not wanting to struggle with the warping, to getting them back on. I have headers on my 86 with air injection tubes and smog pump, and it passes emissions just fine. I don't see why it would be a problem with this 95, without air injection and no smog pump.
I called summit, and they have some summit brand shorty headers that are direct fit for 179.99. Rock auto has stock manifolds for 74.00 each. I'm thinking about it over the weekend and sleeping on it.

Keep in mind, if you go headers you're probably going to need to go with a Heated O2 sensor for the TBI ECM.

How about replacing that right one that was broke, clean up those bolts and put some anti seize on them for the left side and put it back together. Unless you know for a fact the Left side was also leaking. Left side might just be OK and that would save you from jacking with that bracket too. Kinda as in, If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Well, I finally pulled off the driver side manifold, and it has a big ass crack in on it, almost in the same exact area as the passenger side. I'm wondering if there's an issue with something else that caused that? I also have a broken manifold bolt, the last one closest to the firewall. FML! I was hoping it had a little sticking out, but broke off flush with the head. Wondering how the hell I'm gonna get a drill in there.

That's gonna be a bitch to get that bolt out. I just wonder how long it would last if you got some of that high temp silicone and put good amount on that half of that port and just go with 1 bolt. Worth a try I guess. Install that manifold first, then do the other so that the silicone has a chance to set up before you start it up.

With both those manifolds not only cracked but broke too, I'd think they got very hot. Those manifolds on those year model trucks weren't the best. We all know that about the warping and all and they are prone to crack too. But for these to not just cracked but completely broke I'm thinking they were ran with maybe a lean condition that causes the exhaust to run hotter than normal. Running hotter than normal also isn't good on the Cat Converter either. Can cause it to start to melt down, then when it cools the clogs start. A clogged or restricted Cat also causes high exhaust temp. I've seen exhasut manifolds glowing red hot before and it was a clogged cat that caused it.
