This is the pump in my old fire truck. If I remember correctly the engine was replaced with a wrecking yard 350, supposedly out of a 1979 van, although I don't know if any 79 vans had a 350? Anyway it is for sure a 350. You can see in my photos that the pump lid comes up against the bracket that holds the alternator, there is hardly any room for adjustment at all, and I don't know if a shorter belt could even be installed, it was already really tight getting this belt on. Anyway my question is, is there a pump that has a shorter reservoir that would fit this motor? If so can you direct me to it? I saw some that are round that look like they would work but I need to know if they would fit.

Your alternator is on the wrong side for anything 1968 up. Some big blocks had remote reservoirs. What year was your old fire truck built, someone may have a hodge podge of short waterpump and long water pump accessories and brackets going on there.

I am at least 90% sure you can use this(actually factory 68-70 396 trucks) on small block brackets.

The truck is a 1969 Long horn, they did a bunch of weird stuff to the Long horn, the automatic transmission didn't even have park, I don't know all the details, it was my late husband's truck when we got married. I also remember that the power steering pump quit once and it was replaced with one from and oldsmobile, I believe that is the one that is in it now.
