I’m gearing up to do the 40 gallon Burb tank in the dually.

Maybe I missed it... but has anyone got any ideas about how to deal with the rear brake line bracket? Do you relocate it somehow? Seems like it would be in the way even on a long bed.

Maybe I missed it... but has anyone got any ideas about how to deal with the rear brake line bracket? Do you relocate it somehow? Seems like it would be in the way even on a long bed.

I mean, without having personally done this conversion, I can't imagine it's a problem. The bracket is darn close to the axle, the tank obviously doesn't press up against the axle or anything, it would rub through and make the whole thing a no-go. If we're talking a half inch or so of clearance, why not just grab the thing with pliers or whack it with a hammer and bend it out of the way? You're not gonna get a factory fit as it wasn't a factory option, and even some high dollar retro-fit kits for other things have similar solutions, not everything comes with an aircraft grade relocation solution. Sometimes you just gotta bend the darn thing out of the out of the way to make it work lol. Should be easy enough to figure out. Good luck!

Yup, and I've already considered the sledge hammer approach. Shade tree mechanics is sometimes the best solution dollar and time-wise...

But I'm putting it out there to see if anyone that's done the relocation has any better ideas.

You have a Suburban? How is your bracket mounted to make room for the tank?

been a while, but I know I had to bend the corner metal tabs on the tank and I believe I had to bend the brake line bracket. Channel locks or vise-grips. It was nothing massive though. Do what you gotta do.

You have a Suburban? How is your bracket mounted to make room for the tank?
I can certainly take a look in the morning if that helps you. But it's also a different wheelbase, my truck was designed for the 40 gal tank so idk it might look JUST like yours and just not be an issue, no promises. Hah, I'll check it out and snap a pic if it looks useful

Thanks, that would be helpful. I'd be curious anyways. What makes a Suburban capable of carrying a 40 gallon tank anyways? I suppose more length behind the axle than a blazer. If you can get a measurement I'd like to know.
