The 84 GMC 1500 came with an after market push button starter button installed. The column key is for ignition only and must be turned on and then the engine started with the push button. For some reason a 12 volt relay was used to operate the button. I would like to revert back to normal key start and wondering if the relay is even necessary. The push button is wired thru the neutral safety and the wires/plug from original neutral safety set up are just hanging loose. Any pointer/diagrams on removing the push button or using either button or the key to start.

If you are lucky, then there would be a purple wire under the column coming from ignition switch that has been cut and the starter side was put on a relay. The it is just a matter of reconnecting the wire
