I searched and found nothing similar. I just picked my truck up from having the GM posi replaced with an Eaton Truetrac (highly recommend btw). However, as with ANY time I entrust my truck to the care of another, it came back to me not exactly as I left it. They used the wipers because they test drove it in the rain. The wipers, which worked perfectly before, are now ending in a parked position half way up the windshield. I have a 1985 column with the switch on the column, with wiper delay box under the dash, and the wiper motor was new when I built the truck within the last couple years. Wiring is all new. The wiper delay sill works, everything still works, the wipers are now just mysteriously parking in the wrong position. I have a general understanding of how the park function works, so I don't understand how the position can just change. If I unplug the park harness, the wipers keep running, as you would expect. Any ideas??

My guess is that they somehow damaged it by obstructing the wiper blade movement while the wiper motor was turned on.

This it skipped teeth it was either on and someone/thing stopped the wipers, and it jumped teeth, or the gears inside are bad they are only plastic.

Wonderful! I installed the wiper assembly before the cowl cover and screen were installed. Can't remember, do those have to come off for a wiper motor change?

I'd unbolt the motor from the firewall and pull the connection through. make sure the nut hasnt come lose and allowed the linkage to get out of sync with the motor.

That's a great idea I will give that a try.

Before replacing the wiper motor, I would try forcing the wiper arms back into place. Don't go crazy with it or anything, but see if some firm pressure would "pop" it back into the proper position. It might damage the wiper motor gears, but if you are replacing it anyway, you might as well try. Not much to lose as long as you are careful not to damage the linkage.
