what is this: epoxy? in TH350 valve body

There is a bit of epoxy (not exactly sure what it is) in the channel marked with the red arrow (tan in color). Anyone have any idea what this material is and why it would be there?

Looks a little like weld but hard to tell from a pic. See if you can scrape it out, if you havent tried already. It shouldnt be there, that's for sure.

working on scraping it out now. Looks like a metal filled polymer like JB weld. Scraped half of it out and haven't seen any cracks yet. Not seeing any cracks on the back sides of this area either.
