Ya if you have the 700R4 I would go with 4.10s. My 85 has 4.10 but it has 35s on it and it gets around 12 MPG but it has a 454 in it and it has no OD so I would expect around 15 out of a small block with OD.

Should go even lower than 4.56 with 35". The 4.56 would be fine if not for the extra weight the 35s have. I'm going 4.88 on my BBC 35" crew cab. It's 1 ton so everything is heavier plus I still want to be able to tow a car trailer in overdrive. And I live in mountains.
Maybe a half-ton 700r4 with 4.56 and 35s would be fine, in the flat lands.

If you live and drive in a snow belt again the 700r4 with 4.56 and 35s would be grunting a little driving in snow.

I have been starting to think that 4:56s with a 700r4 and 33s would be a really good setup. Over all from stop to go it would perform pretty good and it wouldn't take much power to get it going. And the OD would be in a better spot for being able to tow in.

How ever every time I start thinking that, I remind me self that the 4L80 is what I need to install if I wanna tow in OD.
