I have 2 VERY used dash pads. Is there any value? Anyone use these to recover?

There is always value. Maybe not much but people do recover them.

My guess is the minimal value would be less than shipping if needed

Strip it down to the metal and have a upholstery shop redo it!

I’d like to have an old pad to strip and rebuild with fiberglass with custom speaker openings and customize the dash plate area. That’s for another day…

It’s a bigger job than you’d think. Wear Kevlar/chainmail fish cleaning gloves…

Done fiberglass before and the main factor is your base. Would need to see a bare frame to develop a working plan, would it be challenging? Yes, cool looking? Most certainly! A square with a glossy dash would stand above the rest

Thanks, couple more tweaks to the interior and I'll move on to the putting fenders, bed and hood back on. Gonna be a little bit on a 4 month recovery from that whipple surgery.

What’s that cost?
We know new ones aren’t cheap and the expensive one I bought just warped by the drivers defrost vent after a couple years.

Fortunately there is no supply issue with dilapidated squarebody dash pads.

And be a poor decision due to glare.
Heck my new truck has a gloss black bezel around the infotainment screen. Mostly vertical but with a small lip at the top that is horizontal. And just that little bit will reflect like a mirror at the right trajectory to the sun.

True but with 15% tint all-around and / or even using matte or semi-gloss, the issue of glare would be mitigated. I have all the windows in mine with 15% ceramic and the sun is no issue. I had a 1960 Ferd F100 with (IMO) a gloss red painted dash and never had any glare issue. I wouldn’t go to all that work unless it was gonna be a garage queen anyway

Ya colors are better than black for reflection. Do one and let’s see it.
Thats ALOT of work though to get the buildup, glass perfect, paint or gel.
But we all like our own unique things.
