Ok, I'm only posting this here cuz I know there are some very knowledge folks here when it comes to transmissions even if it is with the Grand Prix I'm sure you may be able to give a decent educated guess so here goes....

Every once in a while (not every time but happening more and more frequently) when I'm pulling away from a dead stop with the gas pedal applied the transmission feels like it slips a little bit before engaging and allowing me to accelerate forward. Is this a symptom of a rebuild needing to take place sometime in the near future or what is causing this?? I just had the fluid and filter changed about 15k miles ago (Last June or so) so I'm pretty sure it's not an issue of needing the fluid changed or anything of that nature.

Any ideas?? :baby:

How many miles and what year grand am are you talking?
How does it shift, soft, Hard?
Any SES lighton? What are the codes?

It honestly sounds like a low fluid Problem, Have you pulled the red plug with it running yet?

1. It's a 2005 with 115k miles on it
2. Shifts soft (aka smooth) but when this "hesitation" occurs and shifts hard before it actually starts to accelerate forward.
3. No codes are being thrown

I would start it up and pull the red plug out of the back of the trans with it warm you should have fluid run out. It really sounds like it didnt get filled full or there is a leak somewhere.

I'm not sure of how the filter is set up in that particular trans, but whoever did the filter/fluid, if they didn't get the filter right and it pops off or out of its intended location it can cause strange transmission quirks. Doubt this is your issue, just throwing it out there as one of those stupid things that can go wrong and have you pulling your hair out till you figure it out.

I had 92 SE Grand Am with the 3T40 that was slipping after a fluid change thinking it would fix it.

I have heard more than once people changing the fluid in thier trans and it starts to act like ****, I don't know why though. I got the parts coming to do a write up on the 700r4 fluid and filter change this weekend but I am afraid to do it, lol.
