If i have a TH400 do i need a adapter of some sort to put a transfer case?
Like a np205-np208

Yes, I don't know of any transmission that doesn't need an adapter for a Tcase if it's going to be a married unit. Some manuals have the adapter built into the tailshaft, but all automatics I know of need an adapter.

not sure if this is correct place to post mt th400 shifts great but seems like it could use another gear instead of 3 speed must be the 410)1 rearend

Yepper, 4.10 gears will give that feeling. We're not used to high rpms these days. Wasn't a big deal when speed limits were 55. Have you counted the 2 shifts and know for sure you're have 3 speeds?

yes and double checked it also did your diff check . it will run 70 plus fine just seems like it needs to shift again kind of like the old 4 speed harley's needed another gear. finally they made a 5 speed thanks for you help

Yep, that's what it is then. Just the 4.10 gears.
