I've got an 85 c10 with a 305, and a th350. just wondering if it was possible to convert it to 4x4, and a little guidance with it if possible. thanks.

You will need the transfer case adapter plate and I think you have to 3/4 of an inch off of the tail shaft.

Not 100% on how much you have to cut off though.

Are you talking about the whole truck, or just the transmission??? If just the transmission, what Tcase are you adapting to.

The long tail th350's output shaft is too long to use with any factory t-case, even with trimming.

I'm not sure what tcase to go with. And, I found some adapters that go with the th350. And, don't c10's have 1/4 ton axles? The smallest k10 axle is 1/2 ton. So would it be smart to replace both axles?

C10 and K10 have the same axles, just that one uses 6 lug axles and one uses 5 lugs. They are the same spline count and all, year for year. The later ones like 90 up I think it is, use more splines, but they sill interchange if you use the matching spider gears.

Now sure what your question is about the Tcases.

You can try Pirate4x4, but I suggest you be specific in what you want to know. Chances are someone here knows what you need to know. You'll be sure to find the pricks at that place.

IMO, it would be best to find a whole 4x4 setup out of a donor truck, so you can get the proper driveshafts and cross members. Doesn't really matter what t case you get, as long is it matches your drive lines (one piece or two piece). A np205 is great, but a np208 works fine too. As hot rod said the rear axles are the same just lugs are differant, just make shure your front and rear axle ratios are the same.

Yep, C10 and K10 rear ends are identical with exception C10 axles are drilled for 5 lug wheels, K10 is axles are drilled for 6 lug wheels. So if you found a 2wd drive rear end in the ratio you need to match the front, then you could swap your 6 lug axles from the K10 into the C10 rear end and be good to go. If it's a 10 bolt rear end though, be sure to know what year rear end or axles you're dealing with. The early 10 bolts used 28 spline axles and the later ones used 30 spline axles. But, if you have 28 spline axles in your rear end but found 30 spline rear end and needed to swap to the 6 lug axles, simply remove and swap your spider gears also and you're good to go.
