I don't mind #3 if you can find a grille to mess with, I wouldn't do it to a good grille. But then again, I'm not a huge fan of the '85-88 grille anyway, that's why I did something semi-custom with mine

After I thought about it... adding chrome headlight bezels along with blacking the grill out only (#3) looks pretty darn good too. Once I saw how the black grill makes the GMC emblem look like its "hovering" in front of the grill I started to have more mind-racing issues. Even though repop grills hover around $100 still makes it doable but I'll keep hunting a for a used grill just to keep the sphincter muscle from tightening up when dollars start flying out of the wallet.

For me that truck is already going to stand out because of the 1985 only two tone paint scheme. Really no need to do anything different, it's already different and pretty rare.

I’m on the fence about doing mine as well , I think blackout and red just make it look better and I’m not a fan of chrome so.

my vote is for "stock" by the way.
I have a couple of older trucks that I was going to "hot rod". They have sat in the barn for a while now, long enough that the customising fad has faded away, and the stock trucks have become even rarer and more attractive.
Just get an extra grille, then you can bolt it on and keep the original if / when you want to change it back. Just like wheels - a whole new outfit..
