Hey guys new to these forums have a question about a truck I just picked up.. So here's the story bought I truck that I knew already had some troubles with the tranny once I test drove it. It wouldn't grab 1st gear, felt like it went in just fine but once you let the clutch out it would just grind other than that the tranny seemed to operate alright although it was hard to tell because it felt like the clutch was pretty smoked. Once I got home I dropped the transmission and t case and cracked it open to see how it looked I noticed 2 gears(I believe some type of secondary reverse and a shifting gear) are a little chewed up, the shift forks seem pretty warn, all kinds of shaving and tiny chunks of metal on the bottom, and most likey some bad syncros in first gear?? Never done much tranny work but I've heard these are not too bad to rebuild. I knew what I was in for when I bought the truck so here's my question, I posted some pics, do you guys think the sm465 is worth rebuilding and do I need new forks and gears?? or should I pick up a used one (see them on Craig's for about $200-$400)
Any input is much appreciated thanks..
