Got an '89 or '90 2wd SM465 with the aluminum top and an almost new (in other words, no slop) shifter installed on it. This trans operated absolutely wonderful. $200 or will sell the aluminum top and new shifter for same price.

Also have some other 465 parts.

Run-o-the-mill 465 with iron top and 10 spline output- $40

Chrome 465 shifter with knob- GONE

465 to 205 racetrack adapter- $30

10 spline coupler sleeve, good shape- GONE

10 spline 205 input gear- $25

465 mechanical bellhousing- $35

Bump. I suppose I should also mention why the 465 aluminum top is desirable. The shifter position is a few inches to the rear and the pivot point is higher up on the trans, it makes for a much shorter throw between gears. The shifts are quicker and more precise, especially coupled with the new shifter stick.

Yup. Just gotta make sure it's in the correct gear before you swap it over (think it's 2nd). Pull off the old shifter, then remove the top with the forks attached. Then bolt on the new top while making sure the forks go into place. Install the new shifter and done.

Let me see what my wallet looks like after I get this motor in this week. I am interested, but don't hold onto it for me.

Is this trans still for sale? If so, do you have any other parts need to swap from TH400 to this 465?

Still have the trans, although I've been thinking lately I should keep it around since there hasn't been much interest. I don't have any clutch linkage or pedals available right now.

Would you be willing to sell the shifter for the aluminum top? I have a top with no shifter.

I also have a stock (used) shifter and knob that is the right one for an aluminum top. I'll dig it out and see what shape it's in, I can't remember how worn it is or if it's easily repairable.

I located my original shifter, it's in the usual used condition. The end piece wiggles around a little because the roll pin is worn and the groves for the locating pins are a little boogered. Can be used as-is or doctored up with some welding/grinding. Let me know if you are interested in it.
