I looked around and didn't find the answer I was looking for. I want to put a Serpentine belt system on my 383. What brackets can I use? Will V6 brackets work? What would be the best years I need to look for in a salvage yard? If anyone has pics would help.

I’m no expert on the brackets but…

I put SBC serpentine brackets on my BBC (Kwik Performance adapter kit), I needed the early style aluminum brackets so i went to a u-pull-it. I found that the driver’s side appeared to be the same (I used a V8 bracket) but the passenger side on a (truck) 4.3 V6 did NOT have the mounting ears for a smog pump that a V8 had, much cleaner looking bracket and fit the same.

You want TBI style serpentine or Vortec style?
I have a ton of brackets for both and can take pictures of either setup...
Both of this styles will fit just about any SBC, also the vortec and TBI setups of a 4.3 of the same era should fit the same too.

If you are looking for that style, anything 87-98 with a a 5.0 and 5.7 SBC V8s, or a 4.3 V6 should all work.

This is a pic of a new GM serpentine kit from Summit. It matches a stock kit but I am not sure which.

Would you happen to have the PN for this? Looks like my brackets and I have no idea where to start. :hat:

The L31 Vortec brackets (96-99 trucks and up to ‘02 in vans) are still widely available and are the a clean setup for the SBC in my opinion.

So long as you’re not planning on using the edelbrock tunnel ram looking EFI like @Doppleganger its the Bee’s Knees.

Pros:
Junkyard availability
Clean stock GM parts
Also easily fits a 140 amp alternator

Cons:
Doesn’t work with some EFI manifolds.
Swaps sides of A/C and alternator compared to other year serpentine setups

I don’t have a real good picture with the correct belt on but here’s one with the wrong size belt

That's an '88+ F-body and B-body setup. Similar to the truck setup (including S10 and Astro 4.3L) but is wider set to provide hood clearance in cars and also intake clearance on the TPI F-body.

Way overpriced. :( It does include everything shown including power steering pump.
It sure is smooth running though.

Holy cow, $1500! That's pricey.
